It’s because long hair is high maintenance, when you’re sad or depressed, you don’t wanna spend extra time dealing with that shi
And you want something to change, it’s the opposite of what you had when you felt wrong, so cutting short is a reset, figuratively and literally. Like a “time to move on” kinda thing, cut that chapter of life the hair you had now represents. Anyways I’m reading too far into it than it’s worth haha
